It’s almost Jordan’s birthday! Tuesday, September 15th is the birthday of Grupo Event’s Co-Founder and Director of Sales, Jordan MacDonald. Jordan is a creative, coffee-loving, funky-suit-appreciating entrepreneur and corporate event planner who puts his whole heart into every event he plans for corporate groups from all over the world. He also pours his heart into caring for Mexico’s children. That’s why, instead of gifts for himself, Jordan is asking for donations to Keeping Kids in School (KKIS) – a local charity that understands the value of education and wants to make its advantages available to all Mexico’s children.
The goal of KKIS is to improve high school and university attendance and graduation rates by offering families financial assistance, community connections, and educational support. By working in conjunction with social services and school administrators, KKIS sees firsthand how education positively impacts students, their families, and their local communities. In these days of the global COVID-19 pandemic, KKIS’s resources have been hit hard. According to their website, “for the upcoming school year, so far, only 37 of 81 High School Scholarships and 6 of 13 University Scholarships are funded. In past years, thousands of students have received school supplies, this year so far only 400 bags are funded.”
KKIS is close to Jordan’s heart – he’s an active member who sits on the Board of Directors – and helping families through this difficult time is his only birthday wish. Help KKIS keep helping students in the midst of the current pandemic by clicking here to make a donation. It only takes a few minutes of your time – but it can change the life of a deserving student forever.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
“To make this a little more fun, I am going to wake up on my birthday, hop on my concept 2 Rowing machine and ROW 1 meter for every dollar you help me raise!
My goal is to row a HALF MARATHON (21,100meters) raising a total of $21,100 dollars!”
As destiny would have it, Jordan’s birthday also falls the day before Mexico’s Independence Day – the day set aside to commemorate Miguel Hidalgo’s Cry of Independence in the town of Dolores. Hidalgo was one of Mexico’s leaders during the War of Independence in Mexico who motivated Mexican people to rise up against Spanish rule and fight for their independence. Wanna know the best way to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day and Jordan’s birthday? By helping students in need get the educations they deserve to create futures of lifelong learning, self-reliance, and independence.
