From Strategy to Liftoff: Rocket Model Team Building with IDS

When your day job is deploying smart technology, your team-building event better be just as sharp. Grupo Events hosted IoT Deployment Services (IDS) as they brought their brainpower and bold ideas to the beachside at Hotel NYX Cancun for an unforgettable Rocket Launch challenge.

From blueprints to beach launches, this wasn’t just any day out of the office. This was a team-building extravaganza, designed to have the IDS community ready and raring to engage in creative thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and some good ol’ fun – all while building actual rockets under the Caribbean sun.

The Challenge: Build, Brand, and Blast Off

The Rocket Launch experience is a corporate team-building mission, where participants are put into the role of rival space agencies. Each team is responsible for designing a functional rocket, building it using curated materials, and preparing it for launch on one of our indoor or outdoor pads.

But that’s just the start…

Participants step into specific roles — from Project Managers and Construction Leads to Aesthetics Technicians, Payload Engineers, and even Astronauts. Each role carries unique responsibilities, and the only way to succeed is to collaborate, communicate, and keep your cool under the ticking of the event clock.

For IDS, whose daily work revolves around delivering integrated tech systems and precision IoT deployments, this hands-on challenge was the perfect metaphor: plan smart, build carefully, adapt quickly.

From Conference Room to Countdown

Hotel NYX Cancun was the location for this challenge, with both indoor prep areas and a stunning beachfront launch zone. We began our day with our intrepid teams huddled in the meeting room: sketching ideas, testing balance, and creating logos and marketing materials to support their fictional space corporations. Our Rocket Launch Event is designed not only as a blast-off challenge but also to test the team’s branding, pitching, and storytelling.

Out on the sand, the energy shifted as teams brought their creations to life. Some rockets soared sky-high, while others provided entertainment in their unexpected trajectories. But every launch brought laughter, learning, and cheers from the sidelines.
