At Grupo Events, we believe that the best teams aren’t just built. Great teams are engineered through challenge, creativity, and shared wins. On February 10, 2025, we partnered with ARMIS for the first time to deliver a high-impact ‘Building Bridges’ event at the Hilton Hotel in Cancun.
With 90 eager participants, all recent additions to the ARMIS team, this new hire team-building session formed part of a larger 800-person company-wide event. But even in a breakout group, the energy was sky-high as we brought everyone together for two hours of fun, fast-paced, collaborative building.
Building Bridges is one of our most dynamic engineering-style activities. And it comes with a twist…
Teams are tasked with building bridge sections using only cardboard, wooden sticks, non-perishable food items, and colorful craft supplies. The final test? Linking every section together to form a continuous structure strong enough to support a remote-controlled car as it drives across the entire length.
This finale brought tension, cheers, and high-fives across the room as each team watched their section stand (or wobble!) under pressure. There were wild designs, unexpected collapses, and even decorated tunnels and ramps that turned the bridge into a piece of collaborative art.
In the end, the winning team with the best bridge took away the coveted medals, adding some fun competitive spirit to the day, too.
The ARMIS teams brought more than just elbow grease and an eager-to-win attitude. They brought personality, style, and serious creative flair, which helped spark their new roles within the company. From neon-colored bridges to clever slogans, logos, and quirky touches, the creativity on display was unmatched. Each team injected personality into their project, making it about more than a test of building and physics – it was about collaboration and connection.
We saw bridges that reflected team values, ones that made bold aesthetic statements, and others with surprisingly strong engineering. And somehow, they all connected. A literal and symbolic representation of ARMIS’s rapidly growing team culture.
Starting a new role in a fast-paced company can be intimidating, especially in a growing global organization like ARMIS. That’s why this activity was such a powerful fit: it wasn’t just about team bonding for the sake of it. It was about building trust, communication, and cohesion from day one.
Participants didn’t know each other at the start of the challenge. But by the end, they’d assigned roles, solved problems together, and celebrated shared success. It was a fast-track way to break down barriers, develop confidence in collaboration, and give new hires a chance to feel part of something bigger.
Grupo Events has a range of great activities that are perfect for new hire team-building, or just strengthening your company culture with your existing teams.
As a company dedicated to securing the world’s connected devices, ARMIS understands the power of systems that integrate seamlessly. The Building Bridges challenge echoed that core idea: individual parts (or in this case, teams) could only succeed when connected and working together.
Plus, the use of non-perishable food items as part of the bridge materials added another layer of meaning. They were donated to local causes post-event, turning a fun team-building experience into a moment of community impact.
(At Grupo, we love some Corporate Social Responsibility! We have a whole heap of CSR events directly tied to making a difference!)
