The papel picado has been used in the Mexican culture since the 19th century. They were based off of the craft of Chinese Paper Cutting. At first, chisels were used to make the designs in the papel picado. It has now evolved into using scissors, sharp knives and laser cutting to achieve the intricate designs, and custom papel picado is a great creative branding feature for corporate events.

Papel picado is the name given to the tissue paper flags chiseled with a variety of patterns and used to decorate buildings, Day of the Dead altars and streets during a variety of celebrations in Mexico. The pattern used depends on the celebration and can be related to the Day of the Dead, Christmas, Independence Day, a Patron Saint, or any special event you wish.

1Custom papel picado is sold by the meter and includes delivery, set up and tear down. We will start by getting the size of your venue space and give you a quote from there.
2Once we establish your venue space, we will ask for any special art work, logos, tagline or special phrase you would like displayed in your custom papel picado. We are also happy to create the artwork for you. Once we establish the art work and branding, we will send you a mock up for approval. Once the art work is approved, we will arrive early on your event day and hang your custom papel picado in the area you would like.
